4-day intensive, 40 hour Peer Support Certification Academy. This academy is for new members of Fire Peer Support Teams, Emergency Response Teams and current members who may not have had a peer support team certification training.

CITY OF LONGMONT FIRE DEPARTMENT

The Peer Support Academy will go from 8:30am - 5pm, Monday-Thursday.


Location: The City of Longmont Fire Department: 1000 Pace Street, Longmont, CO 80550

Information on this Academy:

This 4-day intensive certification academy, is for new members of Fire Peer Support Teams, Emergency Response Teams, 911 Dispatchers and current members who may not have had a peer support team certification training. 


Topics Include: Concepts of Peer Support, Operational & Policy Guidelines for your Department, Stress Management, Anger Management, Substance Abuse and Addiction, Ethical & Confidentiality issues in Peer Support, Grief & Loss, Suicide Assessment & Suicide Prevention, Trauma and PTSD, Depression/Bipolar, Relationships/Family Issues and Concerns, Communication - Non Verbal, Problems Solving Skills, Counseling & Listening Skills, Interventions and Tips, Perspectives in Survivorship, Burn-out, Grief and Loos Management, Wellness and Self-Care, Brief Screening Tools, Using a Therapy K-9 for Peer Support and Critical Incident Debriefing and Diffusings.

Cost of this 40-hr ACADEMY is, $400 per person.

Supervising Clinicians of current or new Peer Support teams are welcome register and attend.

When is the Registration Deadline?

For this training to take place, we need to have everyone registered and payment accepted by January 11, 2019. Space is limited. Seat reservation is completed once payment is received.


Certificates of Certification and Peer Support Pins will be distributed at the full completion of this training.

Yes. If you are an alumni of our Academy, you may come to as many days as you wish, without having to pay again. Please let us know if you may be stopping by, so we can make sure we have seats available.
